Cabaret sensation and star of The Umbrellas Of Cherbourg, Meow Meow is to extend her London stay by performing three special shows next month.

Meow Meow In Concert will play at London’s Apollo theatre on 23, 24, and 25 June giving theatregoers in the capital a chance to see the world renowned performer doing what she does best and wowing the crowds with her charismatic cabaret.

“If you were scintillated at Soho, marvelled at the Maitresse in Cherbourg or captivated by the chaotic diva in La Clique,” says the show’s publicity, “then allow the crowd-surfing queen of song, “the sequinned sex-bomb waiting to detonate” to dazzle you with her unique brand of kamikaze cabaret that has hypnotised, inspired, and terrified audiences worldwide!”

Meow Meow, whose true identity is a closely guarded secret, is currently starring in the Kneehigh theatre adaptation of Catherine Deneuve film The Umbrellas Of Cherbourg, which runs at the Gielgud theatre until 21 May. She won the 2010 Edinburgh International Festival Fringe prize for her show Feline Intimate and previously sold out her run of Meow Meow Beyond Glamour: The Absinthe Tour at Soho theatre.

Composer, performer and Emmy Award-winner Lance Horne will provide the musical direction of Meow Meow In Concert.

The Apollo theatre is currently playing host to a revival of Noël Coward’s Blithe Spirit. The comedy of lovers both living and dead runs until 18 June. It is followed, from 6 July, by the return of political comedy Yes, Prime Minister.
