Julia Donaldson and award-winning illustrator Lydia Monks’ bestselling picture book, What The Ladybird Heard, has come to life on stage for families to enjoy this summer. Our theatre friend Jessica and her daughter Lyra went to enjoy a performance this weekend and it did not disappoint!
“Lyra was gripped and bubbling over with excitement from the minute we arrived at the theatre. Every time they sung a song, she jumped straight to her feet to join in. They held her attention for the whole time, it was such a joy. The second we left, she asked if we could go again tomorrow, so I think we will book to come again in the summer holidays.”
If you’re looking for something fun to do with the little ones this summer, What The Ladybird Heard is the perfect outing because it’s packed with live instrumental music, original songs, magical puppetry and rhymes galore.
Follow Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len as they plot a cunning plan to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow. Little do they know that the tiniest, quietest creature of all: the Ladybird has a scheme of her own!
Suitable for children aged 3 and over, the 55-minute show also provides a creative escape as the audience will be transported to the farm for a fun family adventure. Witness the animals plot their quest to save the day in a fun and educational show with plenty of audience participation and moments of laughter.
If your children are new to theatre, What The Ladybird Heard is a fantastic way to introduction them to all the magic theatre has to offer and because the show is in Kids Week 2021, you can enjoy half-price tickets for the family this August.
Leaving the Palace Theatre, Jessica said: “It truly was one of the best things I’ve done with Lyra in a very long time. ”
