Oscar nominee Sarah Miles stars in an autumn season at the Trafalgar Studio 2 that includes the European premiere of Tony-nominated comedy Well, gritty teen comedy SH*T-M*X, the return of Potted Potter and musical theatre showcase Perfect Pitch.
Miles, who received an Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of Rosy Ryan in the 1970 World War I love film Ryan’s Daughter, stars in Lisa Kron’s Well, which runs from 4-27 September (press night 10 September). Miles plays the attention-averse mother of Lisa, a performance artist who, like the racially-divided neighbourhood her mother healed, used to be very ill. Natalie Casey, whose television credits include Hollyoaks and Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps, plays Lisa.
Well is followed in the intimate Trafalgar Studio 2 by SH*T-M*X, a play which balances humour and grit in its portrayal of what it means to be a teenager. Written by Leo Richardson, SH*T-M*X runs from 30 September until 25 October and marks the West End debut of Aimee-Ffion Edwards, star of Channel 4 teen drama Skins.
Perfect Pitch, which runs from 25-29 November, gives a showcase to new British musical theatre talent, presenting six of the most promising new musicals being offered by the next generation of British writers, composers and lyricists. Each performance showcases two of the shows as 45 minute presentations stripped back to their simplest form and performed by West End stars.
The autumn season in Trafalgar Studio 2 is completed by the return of enchanting kids show Potted Potter just in time for the Christmas season (1 December-3 January). Performers Dan and Jeff use a little magic of their own to tell the tale of all seven Harry Potter books in just seventy minutes.
The season in the 100-seat Trafalgar Studio 2 is complemented by that in the larger Trafalgar Studio 1, where Fat Pig plays until 6 September before transferring to the Comedy theatre. It is followed by the European premiere of Riflemind, the darkly comic play by Andrew Upton starring John Hannah as a former rock star reuniting with his old band. Direction comes from Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman.
