Two more of London's top musicals have announced they are taking part in West End Live on 23 and 24 June. The Sound Of Music and Little Shop Of Horrors join a list of productions performing at the free theatre event that also includes Avenue Q, Fame, Chicago, Dirty Dancing, Stomp, Mamma Mia!, The Drowsy Chaperone and The Lord Of The Rings.

This is the third year that Westminster Council has staged West End Live to showcase the many delights of the West End and give Londoners and tourists a taste of the wealth of entertainment on offer in the heart of the capital.

West End Live 2007, which takes place in Leicester Square between 12:00 and 18:30 on Saturday and Sunday, also features displays and exhibits by Forbidden Planet, The Science Museum, Film London, The Serpentine Gallery, The London Children’s Film Festival, The Cartoon Museum and the British Film Institute.

The Society of London Theatre (SOLT), which is working with Westminster Council to promote and enhance the West End, will also be taking part in proceedings. Details of SOLT's involvement will be announced closer to the event.

Councillor Robert Davis, Westminster's Cabinet Member for Special Events, said: "There is no other free event like it in London. From the very best that Theatreland has to offer to the latest children's shows, there really is something for everyone."

In 2006, West End Live attracted 130,000 to Leicester Square. The same numbers are expected this year.
