New musical Too Close To The Sun has announced that it will close earlier than expected on 8 August. The production had been booking to 5 September.

Starring former Wicked leading lady Helen Dallimore, Too Close To The Sun is a musical imagining of the final days in the life of Nobel Prize-winning author Ernest Hemingway. Fighting against old age, Hemingway seeks solace in his young secretary while his old school friend attempts to manipulate him into signing over the film rights to his life. All the time his wife watches on, desperate not to lose her husband.

Featuring music and lyrics by Behind The Iron Mask composer John Robinson, and a book by collaborator Roberto Trippini, Too Close To The Sun opened at the Comedy theatre last week.

It will be followed at the Comedy theatre by Prick Up Your Ears, a new Simon Bent play inspired by John Lahr’s biography of British playwright Joe Orton starring Little Britain’s Matt Lucas as Orton’s lover Kenneth Halliwell.
