Tim Howar will take on one of West End theatre’s most famous roles, as he plays The Phantom Of The Opera from 3 September.
As The Phantom Of The Opera enters its 33rd year, the exciting casting announcement also sees Kimberly Blake join the cast as Carlotta Giudicelli, and Ross Dawes as Monsieur Firmin. Kelly Mathieson (Christine), Jeremy Taylor (Raoul) and the remaining principal cast will continue in their roles.
The announcement that Tim will play the Phantom follows hot on the heels of his recent star turn as Freddie in the West End revival of Chess. He will play an initial run in the role from 3 September – 8 December 2018.
Tim is also well known for being the lead vocalist of Mike and the Mechanics, and his recent theatre credits as Stacee Jaxx in Rock Of Ages (West End) and Roger in Rent (on Broadway).
Producer Cameron Mackintosh said of the casting, “Tim Howar’s exciting vocal take on the iconic score of the Phantom brings a contemporary fresh approach to this legendary role which blew us away at his audition.”

The Phantom Of The Opera is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s world-famous musical based on Gaston Leroux’s gothic novel of life beneath the stage of the Paris Opera House. The show sees a mesmerising score, jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects combine to bring a tragic love story to life every night.
The Phantom Of The Opera is also participating in Kids Week; throughout August, a child aged 16 or under can go free when accompanied by an adult paying full price. Adults can also purchase up to two extra children’s tickets at half price, and there are no booking fees to pay.
