Last summer’s family hit The Tiger Who Came To Tea will return to the West End for a nine-week season this July at the Lyric theatre.
David Wood’s adaptation of Judith Kerr’s much-loved children’s classic is designed to introduce children from the age of three to the world of theatre. The production will play from 4 July until 2 September following a world tour this spring which will take the show’s star, a huge stripy tiger, everywhere from Birmingham to Dubai.
Kerr’s story tells the tale of little girl Sophie whose afternoon tea with her mother is unexpectedly interrupted by a mischievous tiger. When the tiger eats them out of house and home, what will they do when Sophie’s Dad comes home from work?
The Tiger Who Came To Tea will entertain children and adults alike with its colourful musical numbers, audience participation and magic created by the show’s writer and director Wood, who is also a member of the Inner Magic Circle.
Wood’s most recent production was musical The Go-Between, but the playwright is best known for his stage adaptation of children’s stories including Goodnight Mister Tom, Shaun The Sheep and numerous Roald Dahl plays including George’s Marvellous Medicine and The BFG.
The Tiger Who Came To Tea will play daytime performances at the Lyric theatre alongside Thriller Live, the long-running Michael Jackson tribute.
