The Regent’s Park Open Air theatre is to mark its 80th birthday this Friday by selling 200 tickets for Ragtime The Musical at the same price they would have been in 1932.
Back then five shillings would have bought a ticket to a show in the woody venue. For Friday’s performance, the 200 tickets will go on sale tomorrow at just 25p each.
Audience members who aren’t quite quick enough with their mouse-clicking finger to purchase one of the extra specially priced tickets can take advantage of an additional discount as top price tickets for both the theatre’s musical offering and its production of A Midsummer Night Dream will be available at £19.32 for performances until 21 July.
In its 80 years of entertaining audiences in Regent’s Park, the Open Air theatre has hosted performing talent including Vivien Leigh, Richard E Grant, Jim Broadbent, Ralph Fiennes and Sheridan Smith. Under the Artistic Directorship of Timothy Sheader the leafy venue has won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival three years running, for Hello, Dolly!, Into The Woods and Crazy For You.
