The hotly anticipated stage adaptation of The Man In The White Suit is almost in the West End, and we’ve got some exciting rehearsal photos to share with you!
As you can see, the cast has grown since the initial announcement of Stephen Mangan, Kara Tointon and Sue Johnston (who is in the show for a strictly limited time until the end of November).
They are joined by Richard Cordery (Network) as Birnley, Richard Durden (BBC’s Back To Life) as Sir John, with Delroy Atkinson (Sylvia at Old Vic) Katie Bernstein (The Play That Goes Wrong tour), Ben Deery (Call the Midwife), Matthew Durkan (Rosencrantz & Gildenstern Are Dead), Rina Fatania (People Just Do Nothing), Oliver Kaderbhai (Margot), Eugene McCoy (La Mancha at ENO), Elliott Rennie (Alice in Wonderland) and Katherine Toy (Coriolanus).
Written and directed by double Olivier Award-winning Sean Foley, this stage adaptation of the hilarious Ealing comedy classic will be a world premiere.
The show is about Sidney Stratton (played by Stephen), who develops a unique fabric that never gets dirty or wears out. Trade unions and manufacturers soon turn against him, worried for their jobs and the implications for their industry. Only Daphne (played by Kara), the mill owner’s daughter, shows Sidney any kindness. Can he find a new idea before his world falls apart?
Brand new songs have been written for the show by Charlie Fink, known for fronting indie-folk band Noah and the Whale, as well as being a composer for theatre and film including The Lorax (Old Vic) and A Street Cat Named Bob.
Also joining the show’s creative team is award-winning designer Michael Taylor as the set and costume designer. Choreography will be by Lizzi Gee, lighting by the Tony Award-winning Mark Henderson, sound by brothers Ben Ringham and Max Ringham, fights directed by Alison De Burgh and songs arranged by Phil Bateman.
The Man In The White Suit is premiering at the Theatre Royal Bath, before heading into the Wyndham’s Theatre from 27 September – 11 January 2020.
