What’s it all about?
Fittingly named The Last Tango, this show marks the last outing on the West End stage for Strictly Come Dancing superstars Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace.
The story focuses on George, who is going through an attic full of memories, with sparkling and intricate choreography highlighting landmark moments of his life, both joyful and tragic.
Who’s in it?
Masters of ballroom Vincent and Flavia lead – and steal – the show. They are joined on stage by a host of multi-talented dancers and singers, telling George’s tale through Rumba, Jive, Flamenco, Salsa and, of course, Tango.
Teddy Kempner is wonderful as George, moving effortlessly from gleefully childish to pitifully heartbroken, as he sorts through treasured possessions in his attic.
What should I look out for?
Everyone we spoke to in the press room afterwards concurred – the final tango. The show’s finale is delivered with dazzling dexterity, with footwork so fast and precise it’s hard to believe you aren’t watching a sped up film.
Flavia’s solo dance that opens Act Two. It’s not nearly long enough, and is worth the ticket price alone.
