Tell Us In Ten: Richard Pepple

By Jennifer Dickson-Purdy Published 22 November 2024

In our profile series Tell Us In Ten, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions. From how they got their start in the industry to their favourite shows, we want to know everything.

This week we caught up with Richard Pepple, who plays Mr. Bugz in Dan McCabe’s The Purists. It plays at the Kiln Theatre until 21 December.

1. My route into theatre was…

Through attending an acting workshop and then drama school.

2. My West End idol is…

I don’t have a West End idol as such, but there are lots of people I fiercely admire. I greatly admire Giles Terera.

3. My colleagues would describe me as…

I’d hope for kind, generous and dedicated.

4. My favourite show is…

The list is endless when it comes to TV. Sopranos, The Wire and Game of Thrones to name a few.

5. The career moment I’m most proud of is…

When I worked on The Long Song by the late – and brilliant – Andrea Levy. We filmed in Haitian village in the Dominican Republic – which sadly has a long and poor history of mistreatment against Haitians. We donated to have a baseball pitch built and bought equipment for the children there.

6. The hardest part about my job is…

Being out of work for long periods of time.

7. If I wasn’t an actor, I would be…

Possibly a writer or a financial trader.

8. Something people don’t know about me is…

I love cats and travelling – it’s my favourite pastime which I do with my partner.

9. The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is…

Create your own work and don’t rely on the phone to ring.

10. The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…

Believe in yourself and take as many risks and experiences as humanly possible.

Subcultures and generations collide in The Purists, now playing at the Kiln Theatre. Tickets start from just £18 – book now via Official London Theatre.
