Stress, it does funny things to people. In the new trailer for the Old Vic 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala, we can see just what the strain of creating, rehearsing and performing a play in just a day has had on some of our finest performers.
As the annual fundraiser for the Old Vic Theatre Trust and Old Vic New Voices heads towards its 10th birthday celebration on 23 and 24 November, the iconic theatre led by Kevin Spacey has revisited past participants to learn the effect the unique gala event has had on them.
The Pride‘s Mathew Horne and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory‘s Douglas Hodge, along with stars including Lesley Manville, Kim Cattrall and Jessica Hynes, paint a picture that is brilliantly funny if not a touch bleak.
The parody video has not, though, been enough to put off the first quintet of actors announced to be taking part in the 2013 Old Vic 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala. Big screen Romeo Douglas Booth joins the company for the first time, along with former 24 Hour Plays host Catherine Tate, The Light Princess star Clive Rowe, Tom Ellis and Tina Hobley.
The fruits of the hectic, high-pressure collaborations will be presented at 19:30 on 24 November. Tickets cost between £75 and £500, and can be bought from the Old Vic box office on 0844 871 7628.
If you can’t make it to the actual event, make do with this fabulous video at the top of the page, and keep your eyes out for more to follow.
