What’s it all about?
The winter season’s much-loved falling white stuff and clowns. That’s all you need to know.
Who’s in it?
Russian performance artist Slava Polunin has gathered a talented troupe of actors to bring his team of tricksters to the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall for a fifth year. As well as starring in the show himself, he’s joined by his son Ivan, who is one of the 17 performers portraying the gloomy, long-footed green clowns in the snow-filled spectacular.
What should I look for?
Water bottle-toting jokers who jump through the audience with one mission: to get everyone soaked.
That all-important finale, which sees the auditorium (and your handbag) filled with ridiculous amounts of fake snow.
In a nutshell?
With its universal language of comedy and seasonal merriment, s-no-w man, woman or child could possibly resist this joyous fun-filled spectacular.
Who was in the press night crowd?
We spotted TV presenter Kate Garraway and a whole horde of kids, whose ingenious idea to turn their booster seats upside down and fill them paper precipitation was wreaking havoc in our section of the auditorium.

Will I like it?
You’d think you’d have to love snow to like this one. You don’t, mainly because Slava’s snow comes without all the negative effects of the real white stuff, namely freezing conditions, transport chaos and the risk of getting hit in the face with a ball of ice.
Packed full of humour with action that relentlessly spills out into the auditorium, this is a seasonal spectacle that the kids will adore this Christmas. From a cobweb covering the entire audience and massive bouncing balls being propelled from the stage for ‘playtime’ to that now infamous blizzard, this is fun family theatre with a healthy dose of Christmas spirit.
Slava’s Snowshow is playing at the Royal Festival Hall until 3 January. You can book tickets to the show through us.
