Simon Bailey and Laura Pitt-Pulford will star in Marry Me A Little when the Stephen Sondheim musical plays a limited season at the St James Studio next month.
Fresh from his performance in X Factor musical I Can’t Sing!, Bailey will take on the role of Man alongside The Light Princess’ Pitt-Pulford as Woman in the production, which runs from 29 July (press night 31 July) to 10 August at the Victoria venue.
Between them, the duo has an extensive array of musical theatre credits. Bailey has previously been seen in hit West End musicals We Will Rock You, Les Misérables and The Phantom Of The Opera, while Pitt-Pulford has appeared in productions including Mack & Mabel and Parade at Southwark Playhouse.
The bittersweet tale of love, loneliness and survival as a modern singleton sees two strangers, alone in their studio apartments on a Saturday night, pass their time with sweetly secret, unshared fantasies, without knowing that they’re just one floor away from ending their lonely dreams.
Created by Craig Lucas and Norman René with direction from Hannah Chissick, the musical features songs by Sondheim that were written early in his career or previously intended for his other musicals but didn’t make it into the final show.
Marry Me A Little will play in the St James’ Studio, while Torben Betts’ dark comedy of class and culture, politics and pets Invincible takes over the venue’s main space from 10 July to 9 August.
