Following success at the Edinburgh Festival and on the London fringe, Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is to enjoy a limited season at the West End’s Ambassadors theatre from 8 February to 29 March.
Showstopper! presents an entirely improvised new musical at every performance. Stuck for ideas, a writer asks the audience for their suggestions for the title, storyline and musical styles; based on these, the writer and actors create a brand new musical.
Unpredictable and often very funny, Showstopper! has been seen at the Edinburgh Festival every year since 2008 and has enjoyed London dates at the King’s Head theatre.
Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is devised by Adam Meggido and Dylan Emery, who have previously collaborated on productions at Shakespeare’s Globe and the Royal Court.
The show will play selected dates at the Ambassadors theatre, sharing the venue with its regular occupant, Stomp, which continues its run. Also currently playing at the Ambassadors theatre is The Night Before Christmas, which ends its short season, appropriately, on Christmas Eve.
