It will be raining at the Palace theatre for longer than expected as the critically acclaimed musical Singin In’ The Rain has extended its booking period until 23 February 2013.
The musical had been booking until September, but an extra 250,000 tickets have now been released so people can continue to be soaked by Adam Cooper’s show stealing dance routine for the iconic title number into 2013.
Alongside Cooper as Don Lockwood, a silent movie star, Singin’ In The Rain stars Scarlett Strallen as a wannabe actress who finds herself caught up in Don’s Hollywood world when talking pictures are introduced and Don’s co-star Lina Lamont’s (Katherine Kingsley) not-so-dulcet tones aren’t up to the job.
The Chichester Festival Theatre’s stage adaptation of the 1952 MGM classic transferred into the West End last month, opening to a host of five star reviews with The Telegraph’s Charles Spencer calling it “a night of sheer delight”.
Directed by Jonathan Church, the show features two splashtastic downpours that use (and recycle) 24,000 litres of water every performance, as well as showcases a classic soundtrack with songs including Good Morning and Moses Supposes.
