Celebrating what they’re calling 9/5 Day, the producers of 9 To 5 has announced that they’re going into overtime and releasing 300,000 extra tickets which will extend the show’s run into 2020!
The show based on the cult 1980s film and featuring the hit songs of Dolly Parton will now be playing at the Savoy Theatre until April of next year.
It currently stars Louise Redknapp as Violet Newstead, Amber Davies as Judy Bernly, Natalie McQueen as Doralee Rhodes, Bonnie Langford as Roz Keith, and Brian Conley as Franklin Hart. Louise Redknapp is set to leave the cast on 29 June with further casting to be announced.
About the extension, Dolly Parton said: ‘I am so excited that the UK has given both my song and my show 9 to 5 The Musical their very own special day! I couldn’t think of a better date to announce that the West End run of the show will be extending into 2020 with a further 300,000 tickets now on sale, that’s almost more tickets than I have rhinestones on my outfits!’
The timely musical shows three women who are pushed to the edge by their sexist boss. In an attempt to reform their office, they come up with a plan to kidnap their manager and teach him a lesson. But things don’t go quite to plan when the CEO comes for a surprise visit.
So far, the hit musical based on the cult 80s film of the same name has won over critics and audiences with its charm and comedy. With this extension, which will double the length of the show’s planned run, there’s even more of a chance to clock in and discover why everybody’s raving about it.
