It seems there can be miracles and the latest one for the West End is the announcement that there’s a brand new musical based on Dreamworks’ The Prince Of Egypt coming to London.

The stage adaptation of the critically acclaimed and much-loved film will play at the Dominion Theatre from February 2020 for a strictly limited 32-week run. The show will be celebrating its UK premiere having previously played at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley (winner of the 2019 Regional Theatre Tony Award®) and Fredericia Teater Denmark.

The show will feature the Oscar-winning song When You Believe – which was made world famous when it was released as a single by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston – alongside four other songs from the film and 10 brand new songs written by Wicked‘s Stephen Schwartz who wrote the original score for the film.

Joining Stephen on the creative team is Philip LaZebnik (Mulan and Pocahontas) who has written the book, Scott Schwartz (The Hunchback Of Notre Dame) as director and choreographer Sean Cheesman (So You Think You Can Dance), with DreamWorks Theatricals, Michael McCabe and Neil Laidlaw producing. Casting and full creative team have yet to be announced.

The Prince Of Egypt will take you on a journey through the wonders of Ancient Egypt as two young men, raised together as brothers in a kingdom of privilege, find themselves suddenly divided by a secret past. One must rule as Pharaoh, the other must rise up and free his true people; both face a destiny that will change history forever.

The original movie celebrated its 20th-anniversary last year so fans have been waiting a long time for this to happen. Tickets for this brand new production go on sale on 3 June so mark the date in your calendar.
