Prenger joins Spamalot on tour

Monty Python’s Spamalot is to return to London in May when new Lady Of The Lake Jodie Prenger opens the musical’s UK tour at the New Wimbledon theatre.

Original Python member Eric Idle and composer John Du Prez’s comedy musical, based on the film Monty Python And The Holy Grail, enjoyed a two year stay at the West End’s Palace theatre ending in January 2009.

Telling the legendary story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, Monty Python’s Spamalot follows the hapless Arthur as he and his knights journey through England on a mission to find the holy grail, which is somewhat hampered by killer rabbits, flatulent Frenchmen and a mercenary knight who just won’t die.

Prenger, who stars as Arthur’s watery, yet glamorous love interest, came to prominence on the BBC reality show I’d Do Anything, which she won, earning the right to play the role of Nancy in Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. She leaves the role at the end of this month.

Monty Python’s Spamalot plays at the New Wimbledon theatre from 29 May to 5 June, before continuing on tour around the UK.
