You’ve not been able to escape people praising the second season of the TV show, and now Fleabag is invading the West End, too. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is bringing her multi-award-winning play back to London for a strictly limited run at Wyndham’s Theatre this summer.
The one-woman show will be coming fresh off a sold-out Off-Broadway run in New York. Its London return will be the last time Waller-Bridge will perform the critically acclaimed piece.
Fleabag is a rip-roaring look at some sort of woman living her sort of life. Fleabag may appear emotionally unfiltered and oversexed, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With family and friendships under strain and a guinea pig café struggling to keep afloat, Fleabag suddenly finds herself with nothing to lose.
The unique show was originally produced by Phoebe along with Vicky Jones and producer Francesca Moody’s company DryWrite. It premiered at Soho Theatre before making its way to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013. The hit show subsequently returned to Soho Theatre in 2014 and 2016 before being adapted for TV in 2016. The stage show everyone’s talking about also toured the UK in 2015 and 2018, South Korea in 2014 and Australia in 2018. It also had an Edinburgh Festival revival as part of the British Council Edinburgh Showcase in 2017.
Fleabag will begin previews on 20 August and will close on 14 September 2019.
