Pantaloons Theatre Company will entertain audiences on the Southbank this summer with an inventive history-based show that plays as part of the 12th annual More London Free Festival.
The Pantaloons’ History Of Britain will play from 11 to 13 June at the free festival, which offers a programme of music, theatre and film at the Southbank’s outdoor amphitheatre The Scoop from 4 June to 26 September.
Suitable for children of all ages, the show combines songs, sketches and silliness as it races through the centuries, introducing young audiences to well-known historical figures including Harold II, William The Conqueror, Henry VIII and Queen Victoria.
The 2014 festival will also see the return of The Scoop’s award-winning resident company Gods And Monsters Theatre. Taking up residence at the riverside venue from 6 to 21 August, the company will provide a family friendly evening of mythical romance, comedy and drama in the form of The Ring Cycle Plays.
Devised by Scoop-regular Phil Wilmott and Mervyn Millar, the production is adapted from Richard Wagner’s librettos and tells the story of mortals and immortals who fall under the spell of a powerful ring that brings its owner the chaos and glory of absolute power.
The Ring Cycle Plays unfolds over the course of four hours and is interspersed with generous intervals, which allows audiences to enjoy all four parts of the show as one epic visit or across several nights.
No tickets are required for either production and seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis. For more information visit www.morelondon.com
