Shakespeare’s Globe: Romeo & Juliet
Okay, so we know all about THAT iconic ending but you’ve gotta admit, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is one of the best famous love stories of all time, not to mention the most famous in literature. Thanks to Shakespeare’s Globe, you can enjoy a wonderful theatre production of the iconic tragedy for absolutely free!
Following the success of Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank’s production of Macbeth on the venues YouTube channel last year, they followed on with the release of the thirteenth Playing Shakespeare production, Romeo and Juliet, which was originally performed in spring 2019 to students and young people from across Birmingham and London.
Romeo and Juliet is a full-scale, fast-paced 90 minute performance in the Globe Theatre. It’ll make you laugh, cry and give you goosebumps and you can enjoy it now by clicking on the button below.
Disney Cruise Line: Tangled
If like us, you love a bit of Disney romance, we’ve got just the thing! Disney’s Cruise Line has kindly shared their stage adaption of Tangled and you can now enjoy it for no charge!
From incredible puppetry and intricate costuming to superb set designs that magically transform the stage into a fanciful Bavarian kingdom, this is the perfect virtual viewing for Valentine’s Day.
Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and Grammy Award-winning lyricist Glenn Slater—the talented twosome behind the soundtrack for Tangled the Disney feature film—team up again to adapt the score and story for the stage, creating 3 new sure-to-be-hit songs: “Flower of Gold,” “Wanted Man” and “When the Princess Returns.”
Follow Rapunzel’s journey as she escapes the tower and strikes up an unlikely friendship and an unexpected romance (of course!)
Soho Theatre: La Puccini’s La Boheme
Whether you’re a fan of opera or are a total newcomer, we’re certain you’ll enjoy La Bohème because it is one of the most accessible and moving operas ever written! It also won an Olivier Award in 2011 for Best New Opera Production and lucky for us, Soho Theatre are now streaming an English version on-demand.
The iconic opera show explores the highs and lows of a group of idealistic graduates as they bicker, party, try to make ends meet and follow their dreams. Aspiring novelist Rodolfo discovers a harsher reality when he falls for immigrant cleaner Mimi, while his best friend Marcello’s tempestuous relationship with his on-off girlfriend Musetta brings humour and fireworks to the stage.

Mischief’s Movie Night In – Valentine’s Day Rom Com
If a night of hilarious improv is what you’re looking for, we’ve got just the thing!
Having successfully streamed 6 shows in December and 9 in January and with audiences tuning in from all over the world, the original Mischief Team (The Play That Goes Wrong, The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, Magic Goes Wrong) are launching another 10 for February, including a Valentine’s Day Rom-Com.
Before they go on to film a new TV series, they’re returning to their emergency comedy bunker to stream a final run of movies to keep us all thoroughly entertained from the comfort of our homes!
Audience members get to set the genre, the location and the title, and the Mischief team improvise the movie live-streamed straight to your sofa. Each movie includes additional content as suggested via social media – so follow along with the fun on Twitter with #MischiefMovieNightIn.
Every performance is completely unique so if you’re looking for something a little different from the usual rom-coms, this could be just the thing! Ticketed at just £10, we couldn’t recommend this anymore for a Valentine’s Day full of laughs.
Disney Cruise Line: Frozen, A Musical Spectacular
While we patiently wait for Frozen The Musical to open in the West End this year, Disney has spoilt us thoroughly by releasing a full staged musical adaption from their Disney Cruise Line performances and just like Tangled, you can enjoy it for absolutely free!
The 55-minute show features the iconic musical numbers Frozen Heart, Do You Want to Build a Snowman?, For the First Time in Forever, Love is an Open Door, Let it Go, Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People and more!
We love this as an option for Valentine’s Day if you’re looking for something sweet and platonic but not overly mushy because although a love story does form part of the story, the central story is based around the love of two siblings as they discover they meaning of sisterhood and true love.
It’s got sparkly costumes, stunning scenery, puppets and beautiful renditions of the movie’s iconic music – what more could we want?
