Des O’Connor and Jimmy Tarbuck will unite for their first ever stage performance together when they appear in Sunday Night At The London Palladium in October.
The much-loved showbiz legends will take to the iconic venue’s stage on 4 October for a one-off performance in aid of the newly named Royal Variety Charity, formerly known as the Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund.
O’Connor, who holds the record for the most number of solo performances ever undertaken at the London Palladium, said: “The Entertainment Artists’ Benevolent Fund has been doing such amazing work to help people in the entertainment business when they are facing hard times, and so I’m honoured to be able to support the charity and celebrate the change of name to The Royal Variety Charity.”
Former host of Sunday Night At The London Palladium Tarbuck spoke about how he looks forward to being reunited with O’Connor for the show: “Being able to appear on stage at the Palladium alongside my dear friend Des O’Connor in aid of such a worthy charity will be both hugely enjoyable and exciting at the same time. We hope to give the audience a night to remember, full of laughter and celebrations.”
Between the pair or comedians and presenters, they have performed more times that anyone else in the history of the world famous West End Venue.
When they come together for the forthcoming fundraising performance they will be raising money for individuals who have worked professionally in the entertainment industry either on or off stage and are in need of help.
The one-off performance will be directed by Kevin Bishop and feature the Ray Monk Orchestra. Playing on Sunday night, it will be sandwiched between performances of tribute concert Sinatra: The Man & His Music, which continues its Monday to Saturday performances at the London Palladium until 10 October prior to the return of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.
