Steven Pimlott theatre on 17 May at 11:45. The event is free, not ticketed and open to anyone. Pimlott died in February following a battle with cancer. He was just weeks into rehearsals for the National’s production of A celebration of the life and works of director Steven Pimlott is to be held at the National's OlivierThe Rose Tattoo.
Among the theatre professionals contributing to the event are actors Maria Friedman, Michael Feast, John Ramm and Philip Quast, writer/director Edward Kemp, choreographer Anthony Van Laast, actress and writer Meera Syal (soon to be seen in Rafta, Rafta) and actor/director Samuel West.
Pimlott's career was wide and varied, ranging from opera to Agatha Christie and Shakespeare to musicals. In an interview with Official London Theatre, discussing his last West End play And Then There Were None, Pimlott described himself as a frustrated actor and described how the variety in his career came from an eclectic childhood, the final result being that he was, "as happy to be with Gilbert and Sullivan as Shakespeare as Agatha Christie as Andrew Lloyd Webber".
