Dust off your feather boas, pour yourself a glass of champagne and get ready to do the can-can in excitement – hedonistic and bohemian classic Moulin Rouge! The Musical is coming to the West End at the Piccadilly Theatre in March 2021.

Baz Luhrmann’s iconic and resplendent film is brought to life on stage by Alex Timbers in an electrifying musical full of mash-ups, petticoats and one of the greatest love stories of all time.

A celebration of truth, beauty, freedom and – above all – love set in 1900 in Monmatre, Paris, Moulin Rouge tells the heart-wrenching love story of a penniless writer and a beautiful courtesan. With the love-struck pair originally played by Ewan McGregor and Nichole Kidman, the film was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actress.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical has been delighting audiences on Broadway, and now comes to the UK for the first time. The score includes all the classic mash-up songs from the 2001 film as well as some original new compositions created out of more contemporary songs.

The production features a book by Tony Award-winner John Logan (Red, Gladiator, The Aviator), choreography by Emmy Award-winner Sonya Tayeh (Kung Fu), and music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson).

Producer Carmen Pavlovic said:

‘After ten years in development, and following the fantastic response to Moulin Rouge! The Musical in New York, we are thrilled to be sharing this musical with audiences in the UK. We can’t wait to bring the show to London!’
