The casts of High School Musical, The 39 Steps, Brief Encounter, Betwixt! and All Bob’s Women have joined the already seam-bulging line up for West End Live, which takes place in Leicester Square on 21 and 22 June.

Around 150,000 people are expected to attend the free outdoor theatrical showcase, which is hosted this year by I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here winner and theatre superfan Christopher Biggins. The actor and presenter will compere the main stage, presenting performances from some of London’s biggest shows, including Chicago, The Lord Of The Rings, Buddy, Dickens Unplugged, Never Forget and Grease.

Also confirmed to appear during the weekend is Lee Mead, winner of last year’s television talent show Any Dream Will Do, who will perform a song from his role as Joseph in the musical Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

This is the fourth year that Westminster City Council has staged West End Live. Councillor Robert Davies, Cabinet Member for Special Events, said: “This festival is one of a kind. Where else can you find orcs, Pink Ladies and Joseph with his dreamcoat side by side – and for free?

“The fact we have even more shows confirmed is testament to the success of the event. It offers a fantastic showcase for everything the West End has to offer from the worlds of music, film and of course, theatre.”

In addition to the theatrical performances, West End Live includes acts from Notting Hill Carnival, Big Dance and Pride, family-friendly activities hosted by museums including the Science Museum, the Cartoon Museum and the National Gallery, exhibits from film studios, animation workshops and music performances.

West End Live runs from 11:00 to 18:00 on Saturday 21 June and 12:00 to 18:00 on Sunday 22 June.
