She’s well versed in charting the rise of a drag queen; RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage will join the cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in London from Thursday 18 October.
The internationally renowned personality will be making her West End musical debut at the Apollo Theatre, playing the role of Jamie’s teacher, Miss Hedge.
It’s the perfect marriage of Michelle’s role on the Emmy Award-winning show and her experience as a platinum selling recording artist, actress, author and host. She’s also been seen as a judge on Ireland’s Got Talent, was a finalist on 2015’s Celebrity Big Brother, and co-hosts podcast RuPaul: What’s The Tee With Michelle Visage.
She joins the current cast of the feelgood musical sensation Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, including John McCrea as Jamie, Rebecca McKinnis as Margaret, Shobna Gulati as Ray and Lucie Shorthouse as Pritti.
Michelle said: “I am BEYOND thrilled to be making my West End debut in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie! The reason I chose this show in particular is because of the very important message it tells. It is a great show with great music and talent but more importantly it’s about love, truth and the tenacity of the human spirit!
“Also there is a HUGE bonus: I get to live in London, one of my favourite cities in the world! I can’t wait to help audiences to fall in love with the show the way I did when I saw Everybody’s Talking About Jamie for the first time and understand why everyone REALLY IS talking about Jamie!”
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie opened in the West End last year, receiving five nominations at this year’s Olivier Awards with Mastercard, including for Best New Musical. The fabulous and funny show sees sixteen year-old Jamie New overcome prejudice and step out into the spotlight to become a sensation, accompanied by songs from Dan Gillespie Sells.
