Matthew Bourne’s Romeo And Juliet tours with two casts

By Eleni Cashell Published 14 February 2019

“Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene”, and now these two households are going on separate tours in the World Premiere of Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet.

Taking inspiration from the heart-breaking story, on this unique tour there will be two separate casts; The Capulets and The Montagues. Each cast will perform in different venues, so the audience will never see both casts in the same venue, at the same time. So, no biting of thumbs or fights will be breaking out between the two dancing families!

For this modern re-imagining of a classic story, the two casts will tour across 13 separate venues across the UK, including a four week limited season at Sadler’s Wells.

The Capulet Company are: Cordelia Braithwaite as ‘Juliet’ and Paris Fitzpatrick as ‘Romeo’ alongside: Reece Causton; Harrison Dowzell (also plays ‘Romeo’); Alexander Fadayiro; Jackson Fisch; Cameron Flynn; Bryony Harrison (also plays ‘Juliet’); Monique Jonas; Daisy May Kemp; Sharol Mackenzie; Hannah Mason; Stephen Murray; Chris Thomas; Roisin Whelan and Dan Wright.

The Capulets will perform in:  Leicester, Northampton, Salford, London (weeks 1 and 2), Norwich, Canterbury and Nottingham.

Meanwhile, the Montague Company consists of Seren Williams as ‘Juliet’ and Andrew Monaghan as ‘Romeo’ alongside: Jana Baldovino; Madelaine Brennan; Ben Brown; Joao Carolino (also plays ‘Romeo’); Natasha Chu: Gaby Conn; Benjamin Derham; Stanley Duventru-Huret; Louis Fukuhara; Danny Reubens; Asher Rosenheim; Billy Ron Scott; Catrin Thomas and Bryony Wood (also plays ‘Juliet’).

The Montagues will be performing in:  Bradford, Plymouth, Cardiff, London (weeks 3 and 4), Birmingham, Southampton and Newcastle.

In addition, Kate Lyons, Matt Petty and Mark Samaras will tour with the production and perform with both companies.

The show will be directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne, who is collaborating with the entire New Adventures Associate Artistic team. There will be new orchestrations of the Prokofiev score by Terry Davies, which will be played live at every venue by The New Adventures Orchestra, conducted by Brett Morris.

The show will also feature the finest emerging young dancers from around the UK. The search for these talented folks began in April last year, when a call-out was made for young dancers aged between 16-19 who were still in training. A popular call-out, it received over 1000 applications and required a UK-wide audition tour just to see everyone. The six chosen Young Cast members will perform at each venue alongside the New Adventures company.

Romeo and Juliet will perform at Sadler’s Wells from Wednesday 7 August to Saturday 31 August 2019. Tickets for the tour can be purchased on the official website.
