Hayden Tee will head(mistress) up the new cast of Matilda The Musical from 11 September, playing tyrannical teacher Miss Trunchbull.

Isobel Hubble and Francesca McKeown will join Sara Munday and Olivia Wells in the titular role, while Rob Compton and Holly Dale Spencer will join the company as Matilda’s parents, the repulsive Mr and Mrs Wormwood. Gina Beck continues as Miss Honey for a second year.

Tee’s previous award-winning roles include Javert in Les Misérables (West End, Broadway and international tour), Cats (international tour) and My Fair Lady (Auckland), while Compton (Mr Wormwood) recently starred in the National Theatre’s Wonder.land, and Spencer in Annie (West End).

The full adult cast also includes Alex Louize Bird, Jaye Elster, Glen Facey, Alex Hammond, Peter Houston, Jessica Joslin, Bethany Kate, Sammy Kelly, Ben Kerr, Bryan Mottram, Malinda Parris, James Revell, Gemma Scholes, Simon Shorten, Callum Train and Robert Tregoning.

The other young performers announced today, who play the rest of the pupils at Crunchem Hall, are as follows: Lois Abercrombie, Tom Brown, Emilia Bosi, Toby Brandon, Quincy Miller-Cole, Lottie Cook, Imogen Darwen, Jimmy Fordham Reed, Clara Freeman Alves, Stella Haden, Jobe Hart, Noah Leggott, Archie Lewis, Henry Littell, Austen Phelan, Marley Quinlan-Gardner, Daisy Statham, Cherry Vaughn-White and Rochelle Wyatt.

Matilda The Musical is Matthew Warchus (director), Dennis Kelly (book) and Tim Minchin’s (music & lyrics) multi-Olivier Award winning smash-hit, based on Roald Dahl’s renowned tale of school-based mischief and mirth.

It tells the tale of the incredibly gifted Matilda Wormwood, whose parents mistreat her despite her consistent scholarly excellence. When Matilda discovers she possesses a magical talent, the young Matilda sets out to teach them a lesson – but will she be able to do the same to the terrifying and tyrannical headmistress Miss Trunchbull?

If the news gets you revolting for tickets, the Royal Shakespeare Company’s musical is currently booking at the Cambridge Theatre until 20 October 2019.
