Mark Strong, Nicola Walker and Phoebe Fox will reprise their roles in A View From The Bridge when Ivo Van Hove’s five-star production of the Arthur Miller classic transfers to the West End next February.
The Belgian director’s acclaimed take on the play, which opened at the Young Vic in April and enjoyed an extended run at the venue, will play from 11 February (press night 16 February) to 11 April at the Wyndham’s Theatre.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy star Strong plays dock-worker Eddie Carbone alongside Olivier Award winner Walker and Fox as his on-stage wife and niece in Miller’s dark and passionate Brooklyn-set tale that sees Carbone welcome his Sicilian cousins to the land of freedom, unaware of the devastating effect it will have on his life.
The trio of performers are joined by fellow original cast members Emun Elliott, Luke Norris and Michael Gould in the production.
A View From The Bridge received a shower of praise from the public and critics alike during its Young Vic run, with The Telegraph’s Charles Spencer describing Van Hove’s interpretation as “one of the most powerful productions of a Miller play I have ever seen”.
Talking about the transfer, the Young Vic’s Artistic Director David Lan said: “Our Young Vic audiences were in no doubt that this is truly the production of a lifetime. I am thrilled so many more people will share this exceptional experience. We’re delighted to be playing in the West End for the third year in a row, welcoming new audiences to the style and ambition of the Young Vic.”
When A View From The Bridge moves to its new West End residence, currently home to the Almeida Theatre’s hit transfer of King Charles III, it will join fellow Young Vic transfer The Scottsboro Boys, which plays just down the road at the Garrick Theatre until 21 February.
