The Lyric Hammersmith has announced details of the fifth instalment in its much-talked-about Secret Theatre season, revealing its latest mysterious offering will arrive at the venue for a limited two week run next month.
Show 5 – A Series Of Increasingly Impossible Acts will play from 7 to 22 May before heading to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The intriguingly titled piece will continue in the tantalisingly ambiguous spirit of Artistic Director Sean Holmes’ innovative season by offering audiences just the smallest nuggets of information about what they can expect.
While ticket holders will have no idea what the show is about or who will be in it until they take their seats, one thing the theatre is spilling the beans on is that the show will be a completely new devised piece created as a result of a full year of creative collaboration.
The production will feature work from an as yet unknown selection of the initiative’s 20-strong ensemble of actors, directors, writers, designers and dramaturgs. It follows bold reinterpretations of classics from Tennessee Williams to Jacobean tragedies and brave new premieres in the season that was devised to experiment news ways of creating work while the venue undergoes a major redevelopment.
