Never Forget, the new musical about a Take That tribute band which is currently occupying the Savoy, is to transfer to the Lyric theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue for an open-ended run from 20 November.
The musical celebrated its 100th performance at the Savoy today, 1 August, after opening there in May this year following a UK tour. Its producers had previously announced their intention to find a permanent London home for the show at the end of its limited season at the Savoy.
Written by Danny Brocklehurst (Shameless), Guy Jones and Ed Curtis, Never Forget tells the story of Mancunian friends Ash and Jake, who join a Take That tribute band in order to win a contest and help Ash’s mum pay off her spiralling debts. But as Ash succumbs to the pleasures of fame, he is in danger of losing sight of what really matters most.
The show features many hits by the 90s boy band Take That, including Relight My Fire, Pray, Back For Good, A Million Love Songs and the title track, which is performed alongside a 20-strong children’s chorus. The show is also the only musical currently in the West End to feature heavy rainfall, punctuated by dry spells.
The cast includes Dean Chisnall as Ash and Craige Els as Jake, along with fellow tribute bandmates Stephane Anelli (Jose), Tim Driesen (Adrian) and Eaton James (Dirty Harry), who are choreographed by Laurence Olivier Award-winner Karen Bruce.
Never Forget plays at the Savoy until 15 November, before performances resume at the Lyric on 20 November.
