Casting has been announced for The Lyric’s annual panto, which sees Aladdin fly into Hammersmith on his magic carpet for some festive fun.
Fresh for 2016, the show will be full of live music, lots of laughs and, of course, the magical Genie. The colourful characters include award-winning comedian Vikki Stone as Abanazer and Karl Queensborough as Aladdin, following his performance as the Prince in last year’s panto, Cinderella. The Lyric will also continue its commitment to nurturing young talent with a six strong young ensemble. Further casting includes Allyson Ava-Brown as Jasmine, James Doherty as Widow Twankey, Arthur McBain as Wishy Washy, Malinda Parris as Genie and Dale Rapley as Emperor.
As part of the Lyric’s commitment to the local community, they will provide 2,000 free Aladdin tickets for Hammersmith & Fulham schools. They will also host a relaxed performance for the first time for panto following the success of the one they presented for Bugsy Malone.
Joel Horwood returns to write the panto, having written both Cinderella (co-written with Morgan Lloyd Malcolm) in 2012 and Dick Whittington (also co-written with Morgan) in 2010.
