The Lyric Hammersmith’s programme of Saturday shows for children kicks off on 6 September with Tam Tam theatre’s Little Hippo & His Magic Pen.
Little Hippo received lots of presents for his birthday. His favourite present was from Daddy Hippo – a special red pen with some beautiful things inside it. But how do we get them out? Suitable for young theatregoers aged two and over, this is an interactive show where the audience is invited to have a go with Little Hippo’s magic pen.
Saturday shows in September continue with The Little Red Hen (ages 3+) on 13 September, a barmy show featuring puppets, live music and bread-making by Stuff And Nonsense theatre company. Garlic theatre returns to the venue on 20 September with The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (ages 4+), a story about a young boy whose attempts to make a spell get him into all sorts of trouble. On 27 September, Theatre Alibi’s Teapot (ages 5+) will reveal the answers to such burning questions as why did Blinky the cat want to jump over the moon? Where did Jack find his Mum’s recipe for success? And who buried the teapot in the turnip patch? A special old teapot holds all the secrets.
The season continues throughout the autumn and into January with shows from many other returning visitors to the Lyric Hammersmith, including Little Angel theatre, Theatre of Widdershins, Banyan theatre company and Krazy Kat theatre.
The Saturday shows are accompanied by the Lyric Hammersmith’s popular Messy Play arts and crafts workshops.
