The stunning casting announcements show no signs of abating for the Pinter At The Pinter season, as comedian Lee Evans and stage favourites Jonjo O’Neill and Meera Syal join the line-up.

Adding to a season cast already inclusive of Danny Dyer, Martin Freeman, Celia Imrie, Tracy Ann Oberman, Sir Antony Sher and David Suchet – amongst many, many more – Syal will perform in the season as part of an eclectic mixed bill, Landscape/A Kind Of Alaska, with Keith Allen and Tamsin Greig.

Also featured in the same evening will be Evans, performing the piercingly witty Monologue alongside a selection of Pinter’s most hilarious comedy sketches – as well as sketch Apart From That with Syal.

Evans comes out of retirement for the event, having previously performed Pinter in 2007 when he starred in The Dumb Waiter at Trafalgar Studios. He reflected on this in his casting, saying, “Working with Harold Pinter was one of the most incredibly exciting experiences of my life… Most of all, Harold loved it when his work allowed you, the performer, to shine. Thanks, Harold – my hero.”

The minimalist Landscape finds a woman entwined in beautiful memory – but interrupted by her husband. A Kind Of Alaska finds Deborah suspended between the conscious and unconscious world, while Monologue is about a loner who addresses a long-since-disappeared friend.

Meanwhile, the award-winning O’Neill (Unreachable, Royal Court) joins Paapa Essiedu, Kate O’Flynn, Sir Antony Sher and Maggie Steed in the explosive opening of the season, which features plays including One For The Road and Ashes To Ashes.

O’Neill will appear in Mountain Language and The New World Order during the evening, as well as the first major revival of the sketch Press Conference, originally performed by Harold Pinter himself, and the World Premiere of The Pres And An Officer.  The shows begin 6 September, with only 23 performances scheduled until 20 October.

Marking the 10th anniversary of the revered playwright’s death, Pinter at the Pinter features all Pinter’s short plays, alongside a selection of his poems and sketches.
