An opportunity cooler than a cucumber in shades is available for 13-16 year olds on Saturday 30 September; the chance to go backstage at new Boney M musical Daddy Cool. Kids West End is giving 25 teenagers a chance to get a backstage tour at the Shaftesbury, learn songs and dances from the show and perform on the Shaftesbury stage. As an extra bonus, workshop-goers can also get discount £15 tickets for themselves and two adults to watch the matinee show following their experience.
To reserve a place on the Daddy Cool workshop, email kidswestend@solttma.co.uk with your name, age, address and telephone number before Monday 18 September. Only successful applicants will be contacted.
The special Kids West End opportunity is part of Open Rehearsal, a weekend of events giving Londoners and visitors to the capital a chance to peak behind the scenes at many of London’s biggest cultural and entertainment venues.
London Mayor Ken Livingstone described the weekend-long event as “an exciting and unique opportunity for Londoners and the capital’s visitors to get under the skin of some of the finest cultural organisations in the world”.
Among the other organisations taking part in the scheme are the English National Ballet, The Royal Court, Lyric Hammersmith and Shakespeare’s Globe. For more information visit www.openrehearsal.co.uk
Kids West End is a scheme usually run during school holidays to give children the chance to experience the thrill of performing.
