Mike Kenny, the writer behind Waterloo Station theatre’s hugely successful The Railway Children, will present a new version of Red Riding Hood at Jackson’s Lane theatre next month.

Aimed at children aged four and over, the production will play during the February half-term  from 15 to 19 February and features an exciting new twist to the classic tale. Once upon a time there was a young girl who went to spend the night at Grandma’s house, but this time her little brother comes along to.

While all she wants to do is get a good night’s sleep, her brother is having none of it and instead starts to discover all the exciting secrets in Grandma’s attic. But when the pair decide to act out their favourite fairy tale, they find all sorts of magic is in store for them.

Kenny, whose The Railway Children won the 2011 Best Entertainment Olivier Award, has paired up with Charlie And Lola’s Julian Butler who provides the music and songs for the family production.

Red Riding Hood was announced alongside a host of other family friendly productions at the North London venue for children aged 0 to 8 years old. Other highlights include puppetry show Chicken Licken, Little Angel Theatre’s Goldilocks and Kid Carpet & The Noisy Animals, a new rock musical for children.
