Comic, presenter and TV funnyman Phill Jupitus is to make his West End stage debut in a new comedy by Nick Reed, Lifecoach, at Trafalgar Studio 2 from 20 May.
Reed’s play is the story of two people: one who is lost and finds her way, and the other who knows where he is but gets lost. Jupitus stars as Colin, the titular life coach, whose job is to give guidance to others; to help them see where they are going wrong and put them back on track. Wendy, meanwhile, needs help. Her boss is losing patience, her boyfriend has no respect for her and she can’t speak up for herself. Unfortunately, her life coach needs help too.
Jupitus’s comic talents were first showcased in 1996 when he became a team captain on the BBC2 pop quiz Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Also a stand-up comedian, Jupitus has been a regular feature on the national comedy circuit and toured the UK twice. His career has branched into television and radio presenting, acting (Mike Bassett: England Manager) and playwriting; last year he wrote and appeared in his first stage play, Waiting For Alice, at the Edinburgh Festival.
Joining Jupitus in the cast are Amy Darcy as Wendy, Katarina Olsson and Tim Plester.
Lifecoach runs from 20 May to 14 June (press night 22 May).
