Tickets are still available for a special charity performance of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Friday 16 November in aid of BBC Children In Need.
All box office receipts for this performance will go to the charity, whose annual television fundraising extravaganza is held on the same evening. Lee Mead, who stars as Joseph in the musical, will kick off the live television show at BBC Television Centre at 19:00 before donning his technicolored coat en route to the Adelphi for the charity performance, which starts at the later-than-usual time of 20:00.
Mead was chosen to play Joseph through the BBC reality television show Any Dream Will Do, in which he fought off strong competition from 11 other aspiring Josephs. The children’s choir also selected during the television programme will make an appearance alongside Mead during the charity performance.
The musical has previously supported Children In Need with a gala performance in July. Proceeds from a single released by Mead, Any Dream Will Do/Close Every Door, were also donated to the charity.
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s musical is based on the biblical story of Jacob and his 12 sons, including his favourite, Joseph. Spurned by his brothers, fate takes Joseph to Egypt, where he becomes the Pharoah’s right-hand man. The technicolored production opened at the Adelphi on 17 July this year.
