William Shakespeare’s epic story of the tragically flawed Danish Prince returns to the West End this week; we spoke to Andrew Scott and the rest of the cast ahead of Hamlet’s Harold Pinter Theatre opening.
Following the production’s critically acclaimed and sell out run at the Almeida Theatre, the show will run for a limited season only from 9 June to 2 September 2017, with press night tonight, Thursday 15 June.
Olivier Award-winning director Robert Icke’s (Mary Stuart, The Red Barn, Uncle Vanya, Oresteia, Mr Burns and 1984) ground-breaking and electrifying production also stars Juliet Stevenson (Truly, Madly, Deeply) as Gertrude (until 1 July), and Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) as Ophelia.
The cast also spoke of the importance of inviting young people to witness the production, reflected in how a limited number of tickets for £30 and under are reserved at every performance for people aged 30 and under. These are available to purchase in person at the box office with valid age ID, subject to availability.
