It’s well known to all lovers of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical Cats that Jellicles can and Jellicles do. This morning, 7 July, at the London Palladium, Jellicles did. With panache.
To launch the return of the feline Lloyd Webber classic to the London stage, the cast of the touring production hopped on a train down from Newcastle – we hope in full costume and make-up – to join the acclaimed composer, director Trevor Nunn and choreographer Gillian Lynne at the historic theatre.
Amongst talk of giving The Rum Tum Tugger a more ‘street’ vibe and adding a dash of modernity to the junkyard that plays home to the Jellicles, the cast gave gathered journalists a taste of the flea-free, caterwauling-exempt, whisker-pricking entertainment in store for audiences who head to the Palladium between 6 December and 28 February.
Dan Wooller was on hand to catch the action for our gallery.
