The Theatre Royal Haymarket Company is giving budding young actors the chance to train and perform on a West End stage this summer.
Teens aged 15-18 can join a week’s acting course (13-17 July) in which they will help produce a piece of theatre that will challenge and hone their skills. The course focuses on developing participants’ technical ability and looks at voice, movement, characterisation, text analysis and improvisation. The Theatre Royal Haymarket’s Associate Director Lloyd Wood, who is also a RADA tutor, will be involved in teaching the students, while professionals from West End and fringe theatres will be on hand to give masterclasses throughout the week.
Later in the summer (3-7 August) children aged 8-12 get the chance to show off their skills with an acting course in which students will rehearse and produce a piece of theatre in five days. Previous experience is not necessary, though participants must have bags of enthusiasm for the activities, which aim to develop their technical ability and confidence before a showcase performance on the final day.
