Have a Horrible time at Bloomsbury

Children’s favourite disgustingly gruesome educational stage shows, Horrible Histories, will return to the Bloomsbury theatre next month offering two more doses of wacky facts and grotty tales.

Presented by Birmingham Stage Company, families can be entertained by Ruthless Romans and Awful Egyptians which will play in rep from 4 to 15 October.

Adapted from Terry Deary’s bestselling history series, the stage shows feature Bogglevision 3D effects so audience members can experience history up close and personal, however yucky that might be.

In Ruthless Romans, audience members will see evil emperors, killer kings, gory gladiators and grim ghouls. Using Bogglevision they’ll find out what it was really like to be a Roman soldier in the greatest army ever seen, even discovering what it feels like to have deadly flying arrows whizzing over their heads.

Awful Egyptians gives a new, grosser than ever insight into mummies. The show teaches audiences how pyramids were built and the truth about Tutankhamen and his creepy curse, as well as offering bravest audience members the chance to enter the Gates of the Afterlife and dodge the Evil Eye of Horus.

Birmingham Stage Company will return to Bloomsbury theatre later in the year for the venue’s Christmas offering, Philip Pullman’s The Firework-Maker’s Daughter, which runs from 14 December.
