Jack Farthing, Caoilfhionn Dunne and John Mackay will star in Wild, the forthcoming world premiere from one of the UK’s most popular playwrights, Mike Bartlett, at Hampstead Theatre.
The trio of stage regulars will lead Bartlett’s darkly comic play – undoubtedly inspired by the series of high profile whistle-blowers in recent years – exploring the whirlwind of consequences that await anyone who challenges the global status quo in our ever-developing technical landscape.
The Riot Club and Poldark star Farthing will follow recent stage appearances in Carmen Disruption at the Almeida and Bang Bang Bang at the Royal Court Theatre to star as Andrew whose life changes in the most dramatic way possible following just one touch of a button.
Last week, Andrew was just your regular nobody, a guy grabbing a bite with his girlfriend at KFC, making tentative plans for the future and discussing apartments. Just one week on and he’s America’s Most Wanted: holed up in a hidden-away hotel room in Moscow, on the run, and a prime target for assassination.
Dunne, who was last seen on stage in the National Theatre’s Our Country’s Good, and Hampstead Theatre regular Mackay (Drawing The Line, 55 Days) will play the ominously titled Woman and Man.
Wild marks Bartlett’s Hampstead Theatre return following his hugely successful adaptation of Chariots Of Fire and his reunion with director James McDonald following the pair’s Olivier Award-winning Royal Court Theatre hit Cock.
The production will play from 10 June following Hampstead’s current historical epic Lawrence After Arabia, which will conclude its run on 4 June.
