Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson’s most famous creation will be bringing its terrible tusks and terrible claws to the Lyric theatre this winter.

The stage adaptation of The Gruffalo will play a festive season of shows at the Shaftesbury Avenue venue from 23 November to 15 January.

Donaldson’s tale of a quick-thinking Mouse who wanders through the deep, dark wood, putting off possible predators with tales of a monster he thinks is only imaginary, The Gruffalo is widely considered a modern picture book classic.

The stage adaptation, aimed at children aged three and older, was first staged in 2001, since when it has travelled to Poland, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Chile, the United States and Canada with its tale of Mouse’s woodland adventure.

While The Gruffalo plays morning and afternoon performances at the Lyric theatre during the winter, Thriller Live will continue to entertain evening audiences with its high-energy tribute to Michael Jackson.
