Get ready for free theatre with Kids Week!

The countdown to Kids Week 2007 has begun. The 10th anniversary Kids Week, with new sponsor Buckle My Shoe, runs this summer from 17-31 August (yes, it’s a whole fortnight) offering children aged 5-16 the chance to go and see London theatre absolutely free!

The deal is this: during that balmy August fortnight, one child aged 5-16 can go and see a participating show absolutely free when accompanied by a full paying adult, and two more children can go for half price. Booking opens in July on the Kids Week website (exact date to be confirmed), www.kidsweek.co.uk.

The website also has details of all the other activities and events surrounding Kids Week, because free tickets are just the half of it! In the decade since Kids Week began, around 20,000 children have taken part in one of Kids Week’s unique workshops and events, such as singing along with the cast of The Lion King, dancing with Chicago or stage fighting at the Open Air. In honour of Kids Week’s special birthday, this year’s activities will be even bigger and better, plus there is a whole range of events for under 5s, so they don’t miss out on the fun.

As if that wasn’t enough, you can enter a special Kids Week competition. To celebrate the partnership of Kids Week with sponsor Buckle My Shoe, we are asking kids aged 10-14 to design a pair of theatrical shoes and win the chance to help design the official Kids Week poster which will be displayed all over London. For more details and to enter, visit www.kidsweek.co.uk/competitions.
