When you’re in the habit of executing the perfectly-realised escapades which lie behind every great diamond heist, it’s a good idea to chop and change identities from time to time… which initially made us wonder what Mischief Theatre’s excuse is, when their incompetent crooks’ constant attempts to seize the goods in The Comedy About A Bank Robbery have inevitably – and hilariously – lead to catastrophically ill-conceived disaster after disaster at the Criterion Theatre.
But when the news emerged that the slapstick company’s production of their acclaimed comedy The Play That Goes Wrong is soon set to open on Broadway, it became evident that their kleptomaniac alter egos were in need of a brilliant new – and, given the daring stunts in the show, incredibly intrepid – cast to portray them.
Step forward Jeremy Lloyd (Everyone Else), who continues in the production, joined by Hannah Boyce (Caprice), Mark Hammersley (Warren), Sean Kearns (Freeboys), Steffan Lloyd-Evans (Sam), Tania Mathurin (Ruth), Christopher Pizzey (Smitties), Gareth Tempest (Mitch), Miles Yekinni (Cooper) and understudies Michael Bodie, Samuel Fogell, Paula Kay, Niall Ransome and Holly Sumpton.
Official London Theatre described the show as “a sure fire hit packed with slick theatrical inventiveness, hilariously silly word play and gravity defying design.”
