Fred Haig withdraws from On The Town

Having sustained an unfortunate fracture to his foot during a preview performance, Fred Haig has confirmed his withdrawal from On The Town, it has been announced.

Fred suffered the injury during Monday evening’s performance, with his withdrawal confirmed today. With the support of Danny Mac (Gabey), Samuel Edwards (Ozzie), Lizzy Connolly (Hildy) and all the Company, ensemble member Jacob Maynard will now step in to play the role of Chip for the remainder of the run.

Press nights for the production have been moved back to Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 May.

Having trained at The Urdang Academy and The Dance Studio, Jacob has previously appeared in Guys and Dolls (Savoy/UK Tour), Love Me Tender, Five Guys Named Moe (UK Tour), and Ragtime (Pleasance).

Danny Mac, Jacob Maynard and Samuel Edwards will now play Gabey, Chip and Ozzie – roles made famous on film by Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Jules Munshin – in the show, which features music by Leonard Bernstein and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, including the hit song ‘New York, New York’. The show promises to be the biggest dance musical ever staged at the Open Air Theatre.

On The Town runs at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre until 1 July 2017.
