2,000 Feet Away, the debut drama by Anthony Weigh, which stars Joseph Fiennes, Ian Hart and Phyllis Logan, has extended its run at the Bush until 19 July.
The extra week of performances has been added due to popular demand, and extra tickets have been made available for all forthcoming performances.
Weigh’s drama, which opened at the Shepherd’s Bush venue on 16 June, stars Fiennes as the Deputy of a small Iowan community, tasked with enforcing a new law banning sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of anywhere children may gather. The effects of the new statute are made clear when he is forced to evict his neighbours’ son (Hart).
The production, directed by the Bush’s Artistic Director Josie Rourke, also stars Kirsty Bushell, Roger Sloman, Kevin Trainor, Joe Ashman, Oliver Coopersmith, Miranda Princi and Charlotte Beaumont.
2,000 Feet Away marked Fiennes’s first return to the London stage since 2005’s Epitaph For George Dillon, which ran at the Comedy. The Hollywood star has appeared in films including Elizabeth, Shakespeare In Love and Stealing Beauty. Co-star Hart is also best known for his screen work, which includes Finding Neverland, Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone, Longitude and The Virgin Queen.
2,000 Feet Away is followed at the Bush by 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, a series of short plays inspired by tales of breaking up submitted by the Bush’s audiences. Playwrights Lucy Chillery, Ben Ellis, Stacey Gregg, Lucy Kirkwood and Ben Schiffer have transformed the tales into the stage piece, which is performed by a cast led by Ralf Little.
