Children and families are invited to explore London’s original Chinatown this summer when Yellow Earth’s site-specific production of The Last Days Of Limehouse comes to Limehouse Town Hall.
While the promenade production plays from 16 July to 3 August, there will be special family friendly performances at 15:00 on 19 and 26 July and 2 August.
The show welcomes audiences into an East End Chinatown that few people know existed, taking them on a journey from 1958, when the local council planned to bulldoze the remnants of Limehouse Chinatown, to the revolution started by former Limehouse resident Eileen Cunningham.
The special interactive performances for families give children the opportunity to learn about the forgotten world and meet characters from the past including Stanley Lo the sailor, Francis Foony the Sunday school teacher and Johnny the chef.
Written by Jeremy Tiang and directed by Kumiko Mendl, The Last Days Of Limehouse is presented by British East Asian theatre company Yellow Earth whose work is designed to build and engage audiences from all backgrounds with its vibrant, immersive and culturally relevant work that reflects the British East Asian experience.
